NEW PROGRAM to
begin Fall of 2008!
Contemplative Living
Nancy Bieber,
Dean
Assumption: The contemplative life of prayer is not what we do when we
stop our busy lives and sit quietly in a practiced prayer form; it is
indeed how we live the hours and the days that are ours with continual
depth awareness of God’s presence.
The
focus of this program is on the life of the participant. The
goal of the program is to open more of life to contemplative
awareness in all things. Said another way, we are most concerned
for the contemplative way of living the day not simply strengthening
the quiet time at the beginning or end of the day. Most programs work
to help persons understand and strengthen spiritual practices of a
devotional path--the notion of a Sabbath in the week and mini-Sabbaths
in the day. Our program will seek to bring contemplative awareness and
living to the heart of the seven days and the balance of the waking
hours beyond the devotional “hour.” Some core prayer practices will be
taught but the focus throughout will be on a process that helps the
individual to deepen his/her life into God.
