Reflection on Ministry:
Sacred Space at the 2010 Board Retreat

At the annual retreat for the Oasis Board of Directors, June 16-17, 2010 at Trinity Spiritual Center (Baltimore, MD), the Board unanimously approved making the position of Executive Director for Oasis a full-time position as of September 1, 2010.

For the past 5 years, the positions of Executive Director and Director of Training and Program have been part-time—20-25 hours per week. While program revenue does not yet cover the full-time move, the Board prayerfully, faithfully discerned that to meet the growing needs of the organization and to expand the contemplative reach of Oasis, the Executive Director position must be full-time.

Even amid the fear and trepidation that comes with such a bold move, God was present. Following the vote, a planned service of anointing for Oasis directors took on a new layer of meaning. New Board member Rev. Michael Allwein led the Board in a time of anointing with oil, laying on of hands and prayer for Cindy and Glenn as they renewed their call to ministry with Oasis. We did not take a picture of this sacred time, but the two Oasis leaders kneeling encircled by the Board of Directors radiated Love. That loving circle also surrounded our Administrative Assistant, Betsy Keller, in prayer, knowing her great ministry also requires empowered support.

Love extends still as it moves beyond the circle in that upper room of the Trinity Spiritual Center in the contemplative work and way of Oasis Ministries. Please continue to join us in prayerfully supporting the work of Love.
