Advent: Exploring the
Cave of the Heart
Between the “Jingle Bells” music of
shopping malls and the “Silent Night” of candlelight there exists a
rare and precious gift—the season of Advent. With the poems, images,
and reflections found in Jan L. Richardson’s books: In Wisdom’s
Path: Discovering the Sacred in Every Season and Night Visions:
Searching the Shadows of Advent and Christmas, as our guides;
participants will explore the invitation of Advent, where “we are
called: to enter the cave of the heart, to trace the images drawn on
its walls, to find God lying in the details of our lives, and then to
emerge with newfound wisdom to engage in God’s work.” Come! We will
pray (“Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder”) and play (Puffy
Paint. Beads. Fabric. Play-Doh!) in the mystery of birthing the holy.
